54% of African Americans graduate from high school

Black males ages 18 and older make up just 5.5% of all college students. Of the young black males who do make it to college, only one in six will receive a college degree.

Approximately 12-13% of the American population is African American, but they make up almost 40% of the almost 2.1 million male inmates in jail or prison (U.S. Department of Justice, 2009)
